Erion Song, an instructor at "180pilates" and "personal gym Rapport," says with a smile. From a young age, she engaged in various activities such as volleyball, karate, piano, and Korean dance, but a major turning point came at the age of 21.
"I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and found it difficult to even walk."
However, this challenge led her to discover Pilates.
"I started it as part of my rehabilitation, and Pilates movements are truly rational. I learned about body mechanics and the importance of joints, and by continuing with it alongside my rehabilitation treatment, my rheumatoid arthritis went into remission in about 8 months! Rehabilitation was tough at times, but I think Pilates had a positive impact."
From her own experience, she strongly felt a desire to spread Pilates to young people who struggle to move their bodies or have limitations, and so she began her path as a Pilates instructor.

Mariko Inui
"I'm happiest when I'm doing aerobics," says Mariko Inui of "Pilates & Conditioning Studio ONE UP."
She smiles and says that when the music plays, she forgets about all the difficulties. She started aerobics in her student days, and while pursuing enjoyment, she found herself on the instructing side. Now, she says she has 24 years of instructing experience.
However, while enjoying aerobics, she faced unexpected difficulties.
"I suffered from muscle strains and had fluid build-up in my knees, injuries that plagued me. There was a period when I was forced to use taping."
Ms. Inui's turning point was her encounter with Pilates about 10 years ago.

"I first experienced it during a company training session, and I realized it wasn't just core training, but also a preventive exercise. Pilates was originally developed for soldiers injured in war to rehabilitate and recover even while in bed. That really resonated with me."
Since starting Pilates, she no longer needs supporters and has experienced fewer injuries. She excitedly mentioned that she hopes to try various other activities, such as skiing, in the future.
